My First "Modern" Road Bike

I bought the bike from Garner's Pro Bikes in Redwood City, CA. I picked up on Super Bowl Sunday 1995. I bought it to keep in shape for mountain biking, but used it for commuting as well. Before stripping the bike for parts in December, 2001, in order to built out the Bontrager Road Lite, the bike had only seen about 1,000 miles. I sold the frame about 6 months after removing the parts.

The bike rode okay, although it was a bit harsh on bumps. I had trouble riding it on descents as the frame was a bit small for me. I finally sprung for a new frame after several descents on Page Mill Road (in Palo Alto, CA) convinced me that the frame was too small.

Although the bike didn't work for me, I still think it had one of the best looking paint jobs of any bike I've seen - very understated, and cool.

I bought the bike as it was the best bike that I could afford that had Shimano's SIS shifting. Until the RSX group came out on 1995 bikes, only "105" equipped and above had SIS shifting. Those bikes were out of my price range, and I was glad to see the 7-speed RSX.
