Save the Foothills!

What makes Boise so nice? Why do we like living here so much? A big part of the reason is the Boise Foothills.

How many places in America can you go from a large downtown area into the "wilds" in 15 minutes? Not many. That's why Boise is a great place for us outdoor enthusiasts.

To maintain the foothill as they are, we need to work together. Much of the land is privately owned and can therefore be developed at any time. To help prevent this we need to work to maintain the hills.

First, respect the current owners. Don't ride off-trail, or cause damage to the land. Good relations will go a long way to maintaining its current status.

Second, respect other trail users. Hikers yield to equestrians. Bikers yield to hikers and equestrians. Everyone needs to maintain compatibility to ensure continued access for all trail uses.

Finally, support the local tax levy proposal. Our local government is trying to buy some of the land in order to preserve it. The more land that becomes public, the more trails will continue to remain open for all of us.

If we lose the foothills. Where will we go next?
